Affectionately coined the “Dream Home Revival” this 3,200 square foot home is one-of-a-kind. It was originally built by renowned California ranch-style architect Cliff May in 1970 and remodeled to breathe new life into its impeccable bones while keeping true to the original structure and vision. The builder salvaged and repurposed as many original surfaces as possible, including pecky cedar wood paneled walls, white oak hardwood floors with exposed nail heads, and dramatic beams running along the 27-foot vaulted ceiling and highlighting a narrow skylight that runs the length of the living space. The home honors architectural history from a contemporary, luxurious living space.
The home is positioned next to a creek and overlooks the 10th green of the Incline Village Championship Golf Course. As the only home of Cliff May’s located outside of Southern California, the remodel inspiration was to pay homage to the famed original architect while meeting contemporary living standards.
All renovations were created from extensive research of May’s style. The home’s exterior was completely redone in mid-century modern design to keep with May’s ranch home signature. Natural running water is heard from the creek flowing adjacent to the home and the backyard was repurposed as a Japanese-inspired lounge patio with fire pit and a wrap-around deck overlooking the golf course. The living room’s focal point is a scalloped travertine grand fireplace positioned beside a wall of windows leading to the gorgeous landscaped backyard, which draws the eye up toward a stunning skylight spanning the length of the roof.
